The New Zealand Herald

I found this to be a thoughtful piece from a chap called Jim Hopkins from the NZ Herald. Sums up the reality of the last few days.

I must admit my spirit to go out and do anything exciting tonight has been utterly disipated, I just keep thinking about all those poor families still waiting for news of loved ones or already grieving over the dead. Let's hope there are still some miraculous escapes out there and a lucky few still have good news awaiting them.

If you've not donated anything yet, think about the people still alive that need food, shelter and proper sanitation. Not enough? Think about how you would feel if you had absolutely nothing left except the clothes on your back, you home and livlihood destroyed.

There's a link to the UK webite for Oxfam on my homepage or you can donate by going straight to the DEC website, which is the umbrella for all the British aid agencies. For those of you abroad, try Amazon, AOL and your local media for ways to donate.

Every single penny counts, and is needed.
