BBC SPORT | Olympics 2004 | Athletics | Golden double for Holmes

Bloody fantastic!

I trust that she'll be Dame Kelly Holmes by the New Year.

It's Arsene's 300th game in charge of AFC.

Many congratulations to Le Boss! :)

I'd love to see him still in charge after the next 300...

I'm currently uploading all out CDs onto iTunes (16Gb, 4.5k songs and I've *still* got about 50 albums to do!)

I'm just Playing Rory some Squeeze to demostrate Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford's genius at squeezing (sorry) entire operettas into three and a half minutes.

I'd hazard to say that there are a limited number of songwriters that can do this properly:

* Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford
* Neil Finn
* Leonard Cohen
* Loudon Wainwright III

I'm not even sure I'd include John Lennon in that category. Not to say that he wasn't a brilliant songwriter, but more poem-centric than story.

One thing I realise I made no comment about earlier in the week was the little matter of 43 games unbeaten.

This'll probably jinx it, but at least it's been done (2nd time lucky!) I'm very proud and was a little emotional on Wednesday night, where we were out at dinner with friends where I was very rudely keeping a constant eye on the WAP test updates. (Sorry J,M and E.)

How long will it continue? Who can say? We will get beaten at some point - nothing is invincible forever, but the main thing is to enjoy it as long as it lasts :)

One thing I will say to my fellow Gooners is that for God's sake keep some humility! Do you want to end up like a ManUre fan? No, of course you don't! Don't ever let yourselves drop to *that* level of arrogance and poor sportsmanship.

Be gracious in victory,
Be gracious in defeat.

That said, come on the lads tonight at Carrow Road - let's make it 4 in a row and keep Chelsea on their toes!

Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Wheels come off 115mph speeding claim by traffic police

..and here's another Guardian article I spotted about a law student getting booked doing 115 pmh... in a 1.2 litre Fiat Punto.

I ask you! How do the police expect today's generation to have any respect for them when they try and pull a stunt like this? Unfortunately it doesn;t appear to be that uncommon, either.

Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | American freed from death row says Britons saved his life

Most of you will have spotted the "Save Perry" banner on my home page. Does it help? I hope so. This article from the Guardian shows that it CAN do some good.

Counter Convention - New York City RISING

In the unlikely event that there is anyone from the USA reading this - the above is a link to the counter-convention website for the Republican Convention in NYC starting Monday.

Go out there and make your voices heard (but peacefully of course!)

V´┐Żlkommen till Avigsidan!

Not a clue. But it is in Swedish, and I like the little bloke in the boots on the home page.

Any takers?

Hello again.

Blimey. Another couple of weeks go by and I haven't blogged. This time a reasonable set of excuses:

(1) nightmare never-ending work project
(2) my Grandma had a knee operation
(3) I went to Barcelona for a long weekend with one of my old school-mates.

In the meantime, the Lads have only gone and done it! Blimey! I'm very proud. ;)
